Intro

Hi, I’m Ava – it’s nice to meet you.

I had my first poem published aged 7 (my mum still talks about this even now) – since then, I’ve pretty much been obsessed with writing.

Storytelling never fails to amaze me. And with the right words, it can inspire, motivate, and most importantly – get people’s attention.

Commercial Copywriting

As the lead copywriter on this project, I researched, developed and wrote the copy for this blog as well as the social media and email assets. (Published 2023)

An interview with one of the bike mechanics at VanMoof – I interviewed, transcribed and wrote the blog, social media assets and CRM assets within a short deadline. (Published 2023)

Professional Writing Experience

An article that I researched and wrote about the effects of loneliness during the pandemic for the publication Kinder. (Published 2021)

I had the pleasure of reviewing Natalie Holborow's most recent poetry collection - 'Small' - for The F-Word Magazine. (Published 2021)

Margriet Schavemaker, the Artistic Director of Amsterdam Museum, asked me to write a short story for the online exhibition -' ‘Corona in De Stad’ - about the change in social surroundings that the first lockdown brought in March 2020. (Published 2020)

This article was written for Intern Magazine as part of the 'New Revolution' series which was a collaboration with Ace & Tate. I interviewed Aliyah Hussain, a ceramic artist from Manchester about her creative process. I transcribed, wrote and edited the article within a short deadline. (Published 2018)

Published Creative Writing

A short story that was published by Dear Damsels, which will also be featured in my upcoming collection. (Published 2022)

In 2019, I successfully had my short story selected to be in the 'Dear Damsels' print anthology, after being previously published by them online. (Published 2019)

Working with Birth of the Reader to write a short story for a workshop where readers can interact with the fiction and poetry. (Published 2017)

Since November 2023, I’ve been working on projects with I amsterdam, writing a series of articles and social posts for their I amsterdam business and Amsterdam Convention Bureau, to date I have written over

I’ve been writing professionally for six years and have held a variety of writing positions, most recently at VanMoof as a Copywriter. I’ve been responsible for delivering everything from social copy to 5000 word features. Words are my bread and butter.

In addition, I have published several short stories and have performed across Europe as a spoken word artist at events such as Body Electric, Verbose, Bad Language, and Seanchoíche. I am currently working on my short story collection, which will be published soon - (fingers crossed).

I’m based in Amsterdam, but available to travel for longer consulting engagements.
